One more post on my Colorado excursion. International travel is one area I lack experience, but I’m told the “average Joe” in other countries gets a view of America from news accounts heavy on crime, violence and politics. I understand the news judgments, having been trained in the news business to look for such things that stand out.
In day-to-day life, however, those exceptions that grab our attention tell just part of the story. Increasingly, people from all sorts of backgrounds get along just fine, even becoming better by interacting with those unlike them. Used correctly, exploring our differences is a strength.
That’s why I took a picture of this bilingual preschool and daycare on one of my walks. What a cool way for young children to experience another language.
