No cell zone

On the road, lunching alone, a table across the way caught my eye. Four women, all past 65, enjoying food and friendship in a comfortable setting.
Their lunch date likely was planned for days, if not a week or more. Each one carefully planned out the morning to prepare. They were well dressed like going to church. The connection with one another, the way they interacted, the interest in each other’s lives, and the world around them was evident.
What stood out most, though, was in the 40 minutes or so I was nearby, I didn’t see one cell phone. No one checked Facebook, or for a text message. They may have had a phone, or maybe not.
In any event, it took me back a few years in a good way.cell.phone
