A piece of Charleston history

A few months after Charleston lawyer Tony Sunderman died on Christmas Day, there was talk that the Brainard Law office on the Coles County square would close. It turns out one of the associates, Brian Poderis, kept the Brainard name.

But the time seemed right to capture the history of one of the county’s biggest and most well-established firms, whose founder also was a leader in the state bar association back in the day.

With help from two longtime partners and some of the printed material available on Brainard, my effort is attached. It’s about 1,600 words, so save a little time.
